It is very important for a family to have direction, regulation, rules and discipline. However, many times we forget that the ultimate purpose for us is to be in harmony with one another — building each other up rather than tearing each other down. Sometimes we have a tendency to allow our household rules to become a weapon which brings injury. We must never forget that the ultimate purpose for our lives is to build a relationship with God and with man. Do you know that you can be both right and wrong at the same time? Your attitude is extremely important when it comes to discipline. Our constant desire should be to restore, build up and make strong rather than to find the weakest area and point it out. This is true of all relationships, whether it be brother and sister, husband and wife, or neighbor to neighbor. At all times, we must realize that relationships are more important than rules.
