The Father's Heart Weekly Devotional

“The Cure for the Achy-Breaky Heart”

It is the Father’s desire for us to live a life that is free from worry and emotional upheaval. If we truly understand how much the Father loves His family, into which you have been adopted by Jesus Christ, then there would never be any circumstance or trial in life that could possibly interrupt our heart’s peace. As a young child growing up in the Midwest, I recall many times when great storms would come in from the plains with tornadoes and high winds. One of the things that secured me was knowing that my father was there to instruct, guide and protect us. He would take us into the safest part of the house and begin to pray and sing praises to the Lord. Each time, the Lord protected us. So it is with our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We must understand that in any storm of life, we can run to the Father, who is indeed our protector. He is our wisdom, He knows exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. As we grow in relationship to Him, the fear factor subsides until it becomes nothing, because we trust in our Father. Jesus taught His disciples to keep their hearts from being troubled by the circumstances around them. This is not always an easy thing to do; yet at the same time the Lord taught that it could be done.

Scripture Study
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1, KJV).

Be like the Father
This week’s characteristic of the Father’s family is faith in God. The opposite of fear is faith in God. Faith eliminates fear. Faith in God will cause you to triumph over any adversity that could possibly come your way. We are to trust in the Lord and lean not to our own understanding. In all our ways acknowledge Him and He will bring it to pass.
